Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra rumored to launch alongside Galaxy S22 series

While most eyes are turned towards Samsung’s August 11 Galaxy Unpacked event where we should see the debut of the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 phones, tipster Ice Universe is sharing more details about the upcoming tablet flagship series – Galaxy Tab S8. The big takeaway is that we will see an Ultra model in Samsung’s flagship tablet line as well, bearing the SM-X906x model number.

The Oppo Watch 2 arrives with a Wear 4100 chipset alongside a custom Apollo 4s co-processor by Ambiq. The Ultra Dynamic Dual Engine promises to extend battery life – the 46mm model should last up to 4 days on a charge, growing to 16 days in Power Saver mode. With VOOC 2.0 fast charging just 10 minutes are enough for a full day of use.

Intel and Qualcomm strike chip manufacturing deal

Qualcomm and Amazon will be the first customers for Intel’s new Foundry Services business. The company behind the Snapdragon chipsets will source its SoCs from Intel on its 20A process technology which uses new RibbonFET transistor architecture and promises improved power management. The node is scheduled to be released by 2024. Amazon’s Web Services division (AWS) will rely on Intel’s new IFS packaging solutions though no specific chipsets will actually be produced for Amazon.

MediaTek Kompanio 1300T chipset unveiled: a Dimensity 1200 for tablets

MediaTek unveiled the Kompanio 1300T chipset, its latest and greatest offering for tablets and ARM-powered laptops. It is similar in hardware to the Dimensity 1200 chipset and is an upgrade over the Kompanio 1200 (MT8195) that was announced in November last year.

The Kompanio 1300T is fabbed on TSMC’s 6nm node and features an octa-core processor with Cortex-A78 cores and A55 cores. The major upgrade is in the GPU department, which now features a nine-core Mali-G77 MC9 (the 1200 chip has a mid-range G57 MC5).
