Report: Apple to use titanium alloy in iPhone 14 Pro

Apple is planning on using titanium in the iPhone 14 Pro models, as per a note to investors by JP Morgan Chase’ China office.

The titanium could be used on the outer chassis or the internal frame, or both. Apple already has some experience with titanium, most notably in the Apple Watch and in the Apple Card.

Titanium is stronger than most metals (three times as strong as stainless steel), while being lighter. However it is prone to smudges and can be unattractive. Apple would presumably address these issues by binding the titanium to another metal in an alloy.

BlackBerry smartphones could be making a new comeback thanks to Onward Mobility

The BlackBerry brand has been part of Onward Mobility’s portfolio since August 2020 and we’ve heard nothing but promises for new BB smartphones since. Today the company launch a pre-commitment program, suggesting a new handset might finally be on the way.

The landing page on Onward Mobility’s website also said these people and organizations can provide direct input and influence features and functionality.

Samsung Galaxy A52s with Snapdragon 778G spotted on Geekbench

Samsung Galaxy A52s with Snapdragon 778G spotted on Geekbench

The Samsung Galaxy A52 and A52 5G were announced in March with Snapdragon 720G and 750G chipsets, respectively. A new version has cropped up on Geekbench, the SM-A528B, which features a more powerful chip (and possibly other upgrades).

This will likely be marketed as the Samsung Galaxy A52s and it has a Snapdragon 778G. The benchmark lists the motherboard as “Lahaina”, which was the code-name used for the Snapdragon 888, but the that clearly isn’t the case here. If nothing else, the scores match the ones from when the Honor 50 ran Geekbench.

There is no sign of this model on Flipkart, even though the rival retailer offers the original Pova.

It’s also not clear how much the phone will cost, but we can make an educated guess – around INR 12,000-13,000. The original is currently down to INR 12,400 on Amazon (MSRP INR 14,000). The slightly more upscale (though broadly similar) Camon 17 is available at INR…
