Apple patents periscope lens design with two prisms, LG and Corning working on liquid lenses

According to a forecast by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will not add a periscope lens to iPhones until 2023. But the company is definitely working on the matter and has at least two patents on periscopes.

One was dug up by Patently Apple earlier today and shows a periscope system with two prisms and a stack of lenses between the two. That stack will provide autofocus and may also be configured to do Optical Image Stabilization.

This is interesting because the typical periscopes we’ve seen in smartphones have only one lens and it is also used for OIS purposes, not the lenses that follow…

Realme X7 Pro gets Android 11-based Realme UI 2.0 stable update

The Realme X7 Pro announced last September with Android 10-based Realme UI is finally receiving the stable build of Android 11 with Realme UI 2.0 on top.

Google Drive for desktop to replace Backup and Sync from July 19

Google announced its unified Drive for desktop app which will replace the Sync and Backup for individuals. For reference back in 2017, Google split off its desktop Drive app in favor of Backup and Sync for individuals and Drive for desktop which was strictly for business users.

Now, the Alphabet subsidiary is going full circle and again releasing a new Drive app for Windows and macOS. TAG Heuer unveils Super Mario-themed limited edition of its Wear OS smartwatch

Swiss luxury watch maker TAG Heuer has announced a Super Mario limited edition version of its Wear OS-powered smartwatch, the TAG Heuer Connected. The watch will be available in a couple of days on July 15.
