Samsung Galaxy A20s gets its last major update to One UI 3.1 based on Android 11

Users in Malaysia are reporting an OTA update is hitting their Samsung Galaxy A20s units carrying One UI 3.1 based on Android 11. And this marks the second and final major update for the Galaxy A20s that was released in 2019.

The firmware version is A207FXXU2CUFA and also bumps up the security patch to June 2021. All of the Android 11-intrinsic features are available along with some of the functionalities that One UI 3.1 brings. This includes a new UI design, better privacy control over apps, chat bubbles and overall better system optimization.

Oppo is reportedly working on a custom Image Signal Processor (ISP) dubbed the M1

Oppo filed a trademark for the “Oppo M1” chip back in 2019. At the time it was assumed that this will be an in-house designed chipset as the company reportedly hired engineers from MediaTek and Spreadtrum (aka Unisoc). Last year the company padded out that team with Qualcomm, HiSilicon and more MediaTek hires.

Now leakster Digital Chat Station reveals that the M1 chip is actually a custom Image Signal Processor (ISP). ISPs are responsible for taking in the raw pixel data from the camera sensor and performing all the necessary steps to convert that to the final photo or video frame.

Apple iPhone 13 to be built by Foxconn and Pegatron, Pro’s bigger camera confirmed once more

The new iPhones are expected to arrive in three months and we keep hearing more reports about them. According to the latest one Foxconn and Pegatron will be the two major manufacturing partners for the 2021 phones, with them sharing orders of the iPhone 13 mini.

Reports from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also claim this will be the last mini device for the foreseeable future after “poor sales”, with only three phones launching in 2022. A previous report said that we’ll see a cheaper large-screened 14 Max replace the mini, so that’s still not decided seemingly.

Nintendo announces new Switch variant with OLED display

Nintendo today announced a new version of the Switch console. The new variant, simply called Nintendo Switch (OLED model), features an updated display, increased storage, improved speakers, and a better design.

The main new feature here is the 7-inch OLED display. This is a bump up from the 6.2-inch IPS LCD on the standard model, although both feature the same 1280×720 resolution.
