Samsung to attend the MWC in Barcelona but only virtually

The Mobile World Congress is set to make a comeback last year after skipping 2020. The exhibition is set to take place between June 28 and July 1 in Barcelona, Spain with as many as 50,000 people attending.

However, many tech companies have decided it is still not safe to send out their employees to do in-person presentations. The latest to pull out is Samsung Electronics – if the company has anything to unveil at the MWC, it will do so virtually.

Realme UI 2.0 edges closer for X7, C12 and C15 as new betas arrive

Realme’s campaign of bringing Realme UI 2.0 to a number of its smartphones is going at full steam, with three more phones opening to the public. Realme X7 5G users can sign up for Early Access, while Realme C12 and Realme C15 owners are already past that step and in line for Open Beta.

Lava Z2 Max announced with 7″ screen and 6,000 mAh battery

Indian handset maker Lava unveiled four Z series smartphones in January – Z1, Z2, Z4, and Z6. Today the company added a fifth member to the lineup, dubbed Lava Z2 Max.

The Lava Z2 Max is aimed at students and is developed to support online education during the ongoing pandemic. Thus, it comes equipped with a 7″ HD+ LCD – allowing students to comfortably watch the content on screen – and packs a 6,000 mAh battery which Lava claims can play YouTube videos for about nine hours at full brightness and volume.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 cameras detailed

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 will carry a similar array of cameras as its predecessor, if the information of @FrontTron is to be believed.

The major innovation here will be the use of an under-display camera for the foldable display – a 16MP Sony IMXx71 with 1μm pixels – allowing for a seamless big display experience.

There will be another selfie camera on the cover display – a 10MP Sony IMX374 with 1.22μm pixels – inside a punch-hole cutout.

The rest of the cameras are a trio of 12MP sensors – wide, ultrawide and a telephoto units, the latter likely a 3x non-periscope one.

Report: iPhone 12 production in Foxconn’s facility in India drops by half as staff tests positive

Apple started manufacturing iPhone 12 in India recently, but according to a report by Reuters the production capacity at one of the factories has shrunken by half. The cause is that over 100 employees at the Foxconn-operated facility have tested positive for COVID-19.

There are dormitories on site where employees can stay, they are the ones keeping production running. Employees are allowed to leave, but as a precaution no one is allowed to get in. The two sources quoted by the publication do not know how many workers are at the factory in total.

Samsung is close to launching the Galaxy Tab S7 Lite series – the affordable alternative of the Galaxy Tab S7 tablets. While we expected a regular and a Plus variant, the company actually obtained certification for the bigger slate from the FCC under the moniker Galaxy Tab S7 XL Lite.
