Google I/O 2021 is happening, will be virtual with free attendance

The COVID-19 pandemic took away most in-person events in 2020, with Google canceling entirely its I/O developers conference. Thankfully, this year we’ll see Sundar Pichai on the scene, but it will be a virtual one, which means everyone will be able to attend.

Realme GT Neo units worth CNY100 million sold in 10 seconds in first sale

The Realme GT Neo introduced last week went on its first sale in China today, and Realme announced it sold units worth CNY100 million in 10 seconds across different sales channels, which translates to around $15 million at current exchange rates. However, Realme didn’t reveal which model sold the most. The GT Neo comes in three memory variants – 6GB/128GB, 8GB/128GB, and 12GB/256GB priced at CNY1,799 ($275/€230), CNY1,999 ($305/€255), and CNY2,299 ($350/€295), respectively.

T-Mobile is giving you a free Samsung Galaxy A32 5G if you trade-in any old phone

T-Mobile is talking a big 5G game today, announcing that it’s giving anyone who trades in any old phone a free Samsung Galaxy A32 5G. The old phone has to be in working order, but it can be any phone – the press release even mentions you can trade in a Sidekick, flip phone, whatever.

The “free” bit comes after 24 bill credits, so you will need to stick around for two years to benefit, and you still have to pay sales tax – but hey, it’s almost free after all.

Nokia 8.1 and Nokia 2.3 get Android 11

HMD Global is now ready to extend the Android 11 update to two more of its past phones – the Nokia 8.1 from 2018 and the Nokia 2.3 from 2019. Both of these are now in the process of receiving the update to the latest stable version of Google’s OS.

For the Nokia 8.1, the first wave includes units purchased in Bangladesh, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Macau, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, and Vietnam. 10% of units in these markets will receive the update notification immediately, 50% by April 10, and on April 12, 100% should be up to date. The Redmi Note 10 from Xiaomi is one of the new devices on the block and after completing out written review we are now ready with the video breakdown. It’s important to mention that the unit we reviewed is the 4G variant rather than the 5G version.

Report: iOS 14 reaches 90% adoption

Apple’s iPhones usually boast some of the highest update rates as users are treated to the latest firmware update as soon as it’s released by Apple. According to data from Mixpanel an estimated 90.45% of iOS users are running iOS 14 on their devices. Apple still hasn’t officially backed up these claims but the numbers make sense if we go by previous values.
